For the final edition of the 2025 NECBL Year in Review series, the magnifying glass turns to the league champion Keene Swamp Bats. The SwampBats were dominant from start to finish last season. After going 32-12 in the regular season, Keene went a perfect 6-0 in postseason play en route to their sixth championship in franchise history.
The penultimate edition of the 2025 NECBL Year in Review series has arrived, this time with a recap of the runner-up Martha’s Vineyard Sharks' 2025 season. Martha’s Vineyard finished the 2025 season 25-19, third in the South Division. After sweeping the Bristol Blues in the first round of the playoffs, the Sharks managed to upset the back-to-back champion Newport Gulls in the South Division final, erasing a 1-0 series deficit.
With the 2025 NECBL Year in Review series down to its final three editions, it’s time to take a look at the Newport Gulls' 2025 season. Coming off back-to-back Fay Vincent Senior Cups, the Gulls posted another strong season, finishing first in the South with a 29-15 record.
Sticking in the north, the next edition of the 2025 NECBL Year in Review series focuses on the Sanford Mainers’ 2025 season. The Mainers finished the 2025 regular season 22-22, second in the North Division. After knocking out the North Adams SteepleCats two games to one in the first round of the playoffs, they were swept by the future champion Keene Swamp Bats in the North Division Finals.
Moving back north to Montpelier, we’ll take a look at the 2025 Vermont Mountaineers season. The Mountaineers finished last season 16-28, tied for last in the North. Vermont had its fair share of All-NECBL representation, with four nominees.
Blake Primrose continued his demolition of American 10 conference pitching, while future Keene Swamp Bat pitchers shined to highlight the past week and a half of NECBL standouts in NCAA action.

With the 2026 NECBL season less than a month away, we continue the 2025 Year in Review series with the Valley Blue Sox. The Blue Sox narrowly missed out on a postseason berth, finishing the regular season 20-22, a game behind the South Division’s fourth-place Mystic Schooners. Blue Sox reliever Andrew Wertz proved to be the league's best in the back of the bullpen, allowing one earned run over 22 innings en route to the Joe Nathan Top Relief Pitcher award.
In the next edition of the NECBL 2025 Year in Review series, we take a look at the Upper Valley Nighthawks 2025 campaign. The Nighthawks finished the 2025 season 18-26, fourth in the North Division. They did make the NECBL playoffs, but were swept in the first round by the eventual champion Keene Swamp Bats. Upper Valley had a litany of players recognized by the NECBL, headlined by 2025 NECBL Sportsman of the Year Anthony Brotz.
A trio of Ivy Leaguers did serious damage at the plate, highlighting last week’s standout NECBL performers in NCAA play.
Heading back down south, we’ll review the Ocean State Waves 2025 season in the next edition of the 2025 Year in Review series. Ocean State finished the 2025 regular season 15-28, last in the South Division. The Waves were well represented in the All-Star Game, with five players making the team.
Staying up north, we take a look at the North Shore Navigators 2025 season in the next edition of the 2025 NECBL year-in-review series. The Navigators finished the 2025 season 16-28, tied with the Vermont Mountaineers for last place in the north. They had a pair of All-stars: catcher Aukai Kea and relief pitcher Zach Kitrell.
A litany of NECBL stars received awards for their performance in NCAA play last week, highlighted by a thunderous week at the plate from Winthrop’s Jaylen Hernandez.
For the next iteration of the NECBL Year in Review series, we head to the North Division to take a look at the 2025 North Adams SteepleCats season. Finishing the season 21-23, North Adams placed third in the north, falling to the Sanford Mainers in the first round of the playoffs. They had three representatives on the all-NECBL second team: shortstop Nelphie Lopez, designated hitter Cuyler Baxter, and starting pitcher Johnny Ruggiero Jr. Starting pitcher Kyle Salvati also received all-NECBL recognition as an honorable mention. Baxter started at second base for the North Division all-star team, while Salvati and Lopez both made the team as reserves.
Next up in the 2025 year in review series is the Mystic Schooners. Mystic finished the 2025 season 23-24, placing fourth in the South Division. After making the playoffs, they took the defending champion Newport Gulls to three games in their first-round matchup before ultimately losing. Center fielder Michael Torres was crowned NECBL defensive player of the year for Mystic. The Schooners had four all-stars and a pair of All-NECBL players, with catcher Davis Johnson making the second team, and first baseman Eric Cha appearing as an honorable mention.
