Lenahan Named National Pitcher of the Week by NACSB
The National Alliance for Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB) have announced their Player and Pitcher of the Week for this past week, concluding on June 24th.
The National Alliance for Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB) is a conglomerate made up of 12 college summer baseball leagues around the country, which includes the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). For the first time, they have decided to do weekly awards across all of their leagues this summer.
After being selected as the NECBL Pitcher of the Week, the NACSB have named Newport Gulls RHP Jake Lenahan (Holy Cross) as their Pitcher of the Week for week three. The second team All-Patriot League selection with Holy Cross went six no-hit innings in his only start of the week on June 20th vs. the Valley Blue Sox, striking out six hitters in the process while helping the Gulls defeat Valley 10-0.
The native of South Abington Township has been electric on the bump for the Gulls this season. Lenahan stands second in the NECBL with a 1.13 ERA, and tied for fifth in strikeouts with 18. You can catch the Gulls in action later today as they once again take on the Blue Sox at Cardines Field at 6:35 PM EDT.
