Martha's Vineyard Sharks Sweep Week 7 NECBL Awards
Martha's Vineyard Sharks outfielder Kevin Hall (University of Alabama-Birmingham) and right-handed pitcher Ryan Gold (Kennesaw State) have been named the NECBL Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after leading the Sharks to another strong week during Week 7 of the 2026 season.
Kevin Hall earned NECBL Player of the Week honors after an explosive offensive week for the Sharks. The Munster, Indiana native batted .500 while collecting three doubles, two home runs, six RBI, and three walks, good for a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.250 slugging percentage. His biggest performance came on July 17 against the Ocean State Waves, when he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBI, and a stolen base in Martha's Vineyard's 17-6 victory. For the season, the UAB center fielder ranks second in the NECBL with a .390 batting average while tying for sixth with 25 runs scored and stealing 14 bases. He also owns a .543 on-base percentage, .610 slugging percentage, and a 1.153 OPS. Hall is coming off his first season at UAB, where he started 50 games, hit .278 with nine home runs, 43 RBI, and a team-leading 21 stolen bases while finishing the year on an 18-game on-base streak.
Ryan Gold claimed NECBL Pitcher of the Week honors after turning in one of the league's top starts of the week. The Smyrna, Georgia native tossed six innings in Martha's Vineyard's 5-4 win over Newport on July 15, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out 11 batters. Through seven appearances this summer, the Kennesaw State right-hander ranks fourth in the NECBL with 35 strikeouts while posting a 3.38 ERA across 24.0 innings. Gold is coming off his junior season at Kennesaw State, where he appeared in 16 games, recording 30 strikeouts in 29.0 innings while making one start. He closed the season with several strong relief outings, including five scoreless innings against Louisiana Tech and a scoreless appearance in the Conference USA Championship.
The league-leading Sharks (25-8) went 3-2 during Week 7 and return home Monday night to host the Keene SwampBats at The Shark Tank. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with the game streaming on NECBL+ on HTN.
