Lynn, MA – The Bristol Blues dominated the North Shore Navigators on the road, exploding for a late-game offensive surge to secure a decisive 15-2 victory.
Bristol established an early lead in the top of the first inning when Nick Flores (VCU) stole home. The Blues added two more runs in the second frame, powered by an RBI single from Evan Menzel (UConn) and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Antonio Ducatelli (Fairfield).
The Navigators broke through in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from Grant Hunter (Binghamton), who later added a double and scored in the fifth on a Simmi Whitehill (Monmouth) RBI single. However, Bristol answered back as Cal Chance (UMass Lowell) delivered an RBI double in the fifth, and Flores crossed home plate during a double play in the sixth.
The game broke completely open in the top of the seventh, where the Blues manufactured an eight-run rally.
The definitive blow came from Christopher DiPrima (Yale), who cleared the bases with a three-run double to left center.
Chance capped his standout performance with a two-run triple later in the frame.
The Navs look to get back tomorrow as they travel to Goodall Park to take on the Sanford Mainers, meanwhile the Blues host the Martha's Vineyard Sharks.
