Miller Named National Pitcher of the Week by NACSB
Brendon Miller has been named the NACSB Pitcher of the Week, making it the second time an NECBL player has took home a weekly award this year.
The National Alliance for Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB) is a conglomerate made up of 12 college summer baseball leagues around the country, which includes the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). For the first time, they have decided to do weekly awards across all of their leagues this summer.
Vermont Mountaineers southpaw pitcher Brendon Miller (Fairfield) has been announced as the NACSB Pitcher of the Week. He is the second NECBL player to become an NACSB weekly award winner this summer, joining Newport Gulls right-hander Jake Lenahan (Holy Cross), who won NACSB Pitcher of the Week for week three.
Miller is coming off an astounding week, where he struck out a whopping 18 batters over seven innings pitched, giving up one hit and no runs. He pitched three no-hit innings with two walks and seven strikeouts in the second leg of a double header against the Keene SwampBats on July 7th. He followed that up with an 11-strikeout gem against the North Adams SteepleCats on the 12th, allowing one hit and one walk.
Miller pitched to a 4.38 ERA with the Stags this spring, being named to the All-MAAC Academic team, whilst helping lead Fairfield to the winner-take-all MAAC Championship game against Rider.
