Hacopian & Hughes Headline 2026 NECBL to MLB Pipeline
First round picks Chris Hacopian and Logan Hughes headline the latest batch of draftees from the NECBL.
With the 2026 MLB Draft in the rear-view mirror, the NECBL had quite a few alumni get drafted to The Show. A grand total of 42 former NECBL players got selected during the draft throughout the two-day, 20-round event starting on Saturday, July 11th through Sunday, July 12th. The class is headlined by Texas A&M second baseman Chris Hacopian (Martha's Vineyard) and Texas Tech outfielder Logan Hughes (Ocean State), both of whom were taken in the first round of the draft on Saturday.
An additional three were selected during the next three rounds on day one. Those being West Virginia RHP Dawson Montesa (North Adams), Oregon infielder Ryan Cooney (Ocean State) and Missouri RHP Josh McDevitt (Ocean State).
Every team had at least one draftee this year, as the Newport Gulls and the Martha's Vineyard Sharks tied for the league lead with eight players drafted each. The Philadelphia Phillies must have had a fever, and the only thing that could solve it was more NECBL players, as they led all teams with five of their selections being used on NECBL alums.
