NECBL Honor Roll

Week of May 2nd

Alex Wood- Mississippi (AA) LHP.  Wood was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week after going 1-0 with 14 strikeouts and allowing only twelve base runners in 11 innings of work.  A second-round pick last June out of the University of Georgia, Wood picked up a knuckle-curve from Braves relievers Craig Kimbrel and Jonny Venters to go along with a nasty fastball and changeup and a funky delivery. Wood tossed seven scoreless innings against Jackson on April 17, then went on the road for two more shutout starts at Mobile on Monday and Huntsville on Saturday night. The Braves' No. 6 prospect owns a 0.67 ERA over his first five Double-A outings and has not allowed a run in his last 18 frames.

As a Keene Swamp Bat in 2010, Wood went 2-3 with a 3.96 ERA in eight starts.  He led Keene in starts and strikeouts.

Jason Inghram- Sophomore LHP, William and Mary.  Inghram was a Louisville Slugger National Pitcher of the Week for coming within two outs of a no-hitter against George Mason.  He ultimately fanned 15 Patriots, the second highest total in William and Mary history, in getting the shutout one-hit win.

As a Sanford Mainer in 2012, Inghram made five starts, going 1-1 with a 3.11 ERA

Trey Mancini- Junior 1B, Notre Dame.  Mancini was named Big East Player of the Week for the second time in April.  Mancini had an absurd week at the plate for Notre Dame. He batted .750 (15-for-20) with five runs scored, three doubles and five RBI. Mancini also added a walk and sacrifice fly. He registered a .900 slugging percentage and .727 on-base percentage. Mancini actually went hitless in his first two at bats last week before collecting base hits over his next 10 plate appearances. In all, he went 15 for his last 18 last week.

As a Holyoke Blue Sock in 2011, Mancini hit .296, slugged .520 and knocked in 34 runs, the second best total in the NECBL.

Jordan Schwartz- Sophomore RHP-OF, Niagara.  Schwartz was named the MAAC Player of the Week.  He hit .533 with five RBI, four runs and a pair of doubles in the Purple Eagles’ four games last week.

Schwartz appeared in five games as a hitter and four games as a pitcher for the 2012 Mystic Schooners.
