Meet the 2008 Danbury Westerners’ Players and Coaches

Joe Pepitone was the focus of much attention during his days as a New York Yankee. A slick and sure fielding free-spirit who could play outfield or first base, he broke in during the 1962 season at age 21. Joe was a major part of the ’63 and ’64 Yankee World Series teams. In 1963, 1964, and 1965, he was named to the American League All Star Team and he belted 114 homeruns with 234 RBI between 1963 and 1966. He also had some fine years with the Chicago Cubs when in 1971; he batted a career high .307 with 16 homeruns in just 427 at bats.

Notable Achievements in 12 year career
• 3-time AL All-Star (1963-1965) , 3-time AL Gold Glove Winner (1965, 1966 & 1969) 5-times, he hit 20 or more homeruns, One 30 homerun season in ’66 and one 100 RBI season in ’64. Joe concluded his career with an outstanding 219 career homeruns with 1,315 hits and 721 RBI’s.
